Companion Picture House Photographed - 'Run like the Wolf', a Woman's Wellness Event in Brighton

Beth from Companion Picture House recently had the opportunity to capture a wellness, self-love, and meditation event run by Run Like the Wolf held at The Projects in Brighton.

The location was a perfect fit for this event, offering a serene and peaceful atmosphere that was in tune with the spirit of the occasion.

The event's focus was on promoting wellness and self-care through meditation, boxing, journaling, self massage and yoga sessions. The organizers designed the event to mimic the lifestyle of wolves, which symbolize strength, softness, courage, and loyalty to self and others. Participants were encouraged to embrace the spirit of the wolf and channel its attributes as they journeyed throughout the day.

My job as a photographer was to capture the moments that would showcase the event's healing purpose and highlight the participants' authentic experiences. I used my Sony A1 camera, which is an absolute beast for photographing and videoing pretty much any situation. It was a perfect choice for capturing fast-moving subjects and low light situations along with my 50mm 1.2 lens which was helpful during the boxing sessions and later on in the evening when the sun was going down. My 10-18mm f4 lens was mainly used to capture the grandeur of the space and the group as a whole.

The yoga session was so stunning to photograph as the golden sunlight filtered through the large arch windows of The Projects casting a warm, honey glow on the participants as they engaged their hearts in surrender. It was such a joy to capture the participants' expressions of complete serenity and peace.

The boxing session was highlight of the event, with participants pushing their bodies to the limit, laughing, playing, connecting and supporting one another. I used the super fast high plus burst setting on my Sony A1 to capture them in motion. The participants were not professional athletes, but everyday people who had come to challenge themselves and embrace the spirit of the wolf and they truly did that!

As a photographer, I believe that capturing the spirit of an event is just as important as capturing the images themselves. The "Run Like the Wolf" event was a celebration of wellness, self-love, and meditation, and it was my job to capture those intentions through my lens.

In conclusion, I feel honored to have been a part of such a transformative and inspiring event, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have captured its essence through my photography. Wellness events really are my favourite events to photograph for so many reasons but manly because of the beautiful and open hearted souls I encounter along the way.

The "Run Like the Wolf" event was a reminder that embracing a balanced and healthy lifestyle is essential, and I hope my photographs will serve as a lasting testament to that message.
